Children from five local schools in Hornchurch have added a splash of colour with their artwork now on display on hoardings at the St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub site in Hornchurch.
Inspired by the wildlife of the surrounding area and the site’s former use as an RAF station, the children developed a selection of drawings that local artist Elaine Tribley then compiled into one overall design surrounding the site.
The art project involved five Hornchurch schools – Hacton Primary, RJ Mitchell Primary, Sanders Draper School, and Scotts Primary – and Scargill Infant School in Rainham.
Pupils and teachers from the local schools joined Luke Burton, Director of Havering Place Based Partnership for NHS North East London and Elaine Tribley, local artist leading the artwork, to unveil the hoarding and celebrate this milestone.
Work on the St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub got under way in December on the former hospital site, off Sutton’s Lane, following government approval of the scheme.
More information on the project is available on the NHS NELFT Foundation Trust website.
