CELMP are pleased to announce the opening of a new minor surgery suite at the practice which will offer Minor Surgical services to our patients in Barking & Dagenham.

Saturdays that we are open : 14 & 28 October 2017

PLEASE NOTE: SURGERY WILL NO LONGER BE PROVIDING ALTERNATE SATURDAY MORNING CLINICS FROM 1 JANUARY 2018 AND EVENING APPOINTMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 7PM. PLEASE ASK RECEPTION FOR MORE DETAILS.

Flu walk in clinics - Is between 12-1pm everyday and 3.30-4pm everyday except Thursdays.

PLEASE NOTE: The GP surgery is based in Church Elm Lane Health Centre which also houses other community services like Phlebotomy, Health Visitors, District Nurses and Talking Therapies which are NOT part of the GP. Please contact 0300 300 1790 to access these services.

Blood Tests

blood_tests_4A blood test is when a sample of blood is taken for testing in a laboratory. Blood tests have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test. For example, a blood test can be used to:

  • assess your general state of health
  • confirm the presence of a bacterial or viral infection
  • see how well certain organs, such as the liver and kidneys, are functioning
A blood test usually involves the phlebotomist taking a blood sample from a blood vessel in your arm. and the usual place for a sample is the inside of the elbow or wrist, where the veins are relatively close to the surface. Blood samples from children are most commonly taken from the back of the hand. The child's hand will be anaesthetised (numbed) with a special cream before the sample is taken.
